I have a degree in art and in English literature and I'm a Fellow in the UCI Writing Project. These disciplines are perfect partners in the process of creation for me.   When I was 19, an art professor told me that before a person could make reasoned pronouncements about art, she needed to really look at art for at least 25 years... an eternity when you are 19 years old!  Well, I found that to be the best art advice I ever received.  Looking, looking, looking is magic for me... especially really seeing the little things that are routinely passed over by most people.  They are what inspire the very personal perspective for my art.  I love working by hand on a piece, holding the fabric and sometimes doing the entire design ONLY with my hands, a scissors, a needle, and loads of hand-dyed thread.  Pure joy!

My work has appeared on "Simply Quilts" television show where I was the "inspiration artist".  It has also appeared in 7 books on quilting and I've written articles for magazines.  Corporations and art lovers alike have purchased my work.  My pieces have won numerous awards, occasionally even winning "Best of Show" and recently "Best Hand Workmanship" prizes in national and international shows.  I love to teach and to talk to groups about art quilting.  For more information about my teaching and speaking, please visit my website.
