Sue’s passion for color and texture comes from the sights, smells, and ambience of the open-air markets she has visited around the world. These markets are filled with people wearing colorful garments walking along alleys of bright buildings, both with intriguing decorative details. The smell of food cooking, the exotic aroma drifting out of large bags of colorful spices, some of which are natural dyes, the feel of the woven cloth, the texture of the knotted rugs, and the joy of the celebratory animal trappings with more details unique to the local culture –these memories become her pieces of art.
