Marjie’s fiber art often focuses on extremes and contrasts such as violence and beauty, simplicity and complexity, the heroic and the common. She tries to use materials she has on hand so if she does not have something specific needed for a project, she makes it. Producing “something out of nothing” is very satisfying.  Her materials are hand dyed, hand painted, braided, worn, torn, frayed, pieced, machine stitched, cut, zig-zagged and hand stitched.  Metallic fabric paint, oil based paints, and spray enamels are added to the mix for fun. Each piece is a journey with a story to tell.
