email: kflamme@earthlink.net The continual exploration of color, texture, and design fascinate Karen. She combines hand-dyed fabric, handmade paper, and embellishments with more traditional quilt-making materials to add dimension and interest to her fiber art. Karen works intuitively, designing her pieces as she goes letting experimentation and serendipity play a role in the creative process. The resulting pieces are colorful, intricate and sometimes whimsical. Karen got her start sewing garments and producing her own line of embellished clothing. She has been making art quilts for over a decade and enjoys sharing her passion through teaching, lecturing, and writing. She is the author of the new book Fast, Fun & Easy Fabric Flowers (2006) and the co-author of Thinking Outside the Block (2004), both published by C&T Publishing. Her quilts are shown widely and hang in numerous private collections. | |||
