Debra loves color and texture, and working with fiber in various forms is immensely satisfying for her because it combines these elements so well.  Her approach is usually spontaneous, sparked by something that intrigues her - the color mix in a garden, the shadows formed as light hits an object, the texture of a surface, an interesting juxtaposition of images, etc..  Debra considers ideas as they occur to her throughout the creative process, and may change the direction of her work to explore new possibilities.  She sometimes includes unusual materials or objects in her work as an unexpected surprise for the viewer.  Debra tries to stay open to change, and continues to acquire new skills and experiment with new techniques and media that might better express her artistic vision.
