Deborah Weir

Deborah was trained as a costumer designer then worked as a linguist for 34 years. Since retiring in 2006, she’s gotten a boost of artistic energy returning to her love of clothing, color, pattern, and texture. Her current work involves stitching, layering, manipulating and embellishing. She dyes, quilts, weaves, embroiders, felts, prints, beads, foils - almost any technique which alters a surface. Her series pursue themes of importance such as ancient cave paintings and the fecundity of pomegranates. And language, of course, is an ever-present subject. She is thrilled to play in her studio and see what doors open next.
